ABOUT the European Parking Card Directory

The Directory was created in 2007 due to the undoubted need for disabled people wanting to use their disability parking permits and not loose out to inconsiderate, lazy motorists who "steal" their limited allocated parking bays.

In March 2008, due to requests from the motoring public the EPCD also introduced RESIDENTS PARKING PERMITS and GENERAL PARKING into its remit,

This site is the focal point for parking badge and permit holders and the various authorities and companies that issue and control the issue and use of those parking badges and permits.

The European Parking Card Directory covers the UK's Blue Badge program and the various alternatives in the Member states of the EEC, and three EEA members, Iceland, Norway and Liechtenstein, normally known as the Disability Parking Card, some 30 million users in 29 countries.

The number of Disability Parking Card holders represent some 6% of the EEC population and represent a significant problem which needs a better solution for those who are disadvantaged by mobility problems to a point of qualifying for a Blue Badge or Disability Parking Card.

Due to the complexity of each authority to create a compulsory international or even a country based register is potentially impossible, so our directory is voluntary, no one has to be in it.

The European Parking Card Directory is independent of any local authority, government or company. It is here for the benefit of Parking Card HOLDERS who, since 1971 (when the program was first introduced) have had the advantages offered by The Disabled Persons' Parking Badge Scheme.

But in practical day to day use are fighting a loosing battle with able bodied motorists who feel they have a right, indeed almost an obligation to park in reserved disability parking bays! We at why there is this fight over parking areas, from both sides and look at practial alternatives and options.

Look at the advantages this central DIRECTORY offers both Parking Card holders, local issuing authorities, and organisations providing or controlling disability parking bays;

Members can register their parking badges free with basic information to prove they and their vehicle have a right to have and use a parking badge or permit.

Registering allows a wider range of features including;

Local authorities issuing disability parking badges and parking permits can ( optionally) add basic details of card holders being issued with new or renewed parking badges and permits, and provide each cardholder with a unique PIN number for them to update their online account with us at www.epcd.org.uk

Cardholders can, using their authority issued PIN number access their account on the Directory and add additional details and set preferences. OR if desired close their account and OPT-OUT of the directory entire.

Issuing authorities can only create a cardholder account they have no ongoing access to the record once the cardholder has activated the account using the PIN and set an email address and password.

Organisations who control car parks or on road parking can SEARCH the Directory but not create or edit records. Both public utilities and private companies can subscribe to SEARCH to enable them to check and verify any vehicle  on the Directory to provide cardholders details, or reported abuse.
